Schen Karr is one of the Samurai, and their second in command.[1]

Appearance[]

Schen has long white hair, and is the only one of the Samurai to wear chalky white clothes.[2]

Personality[]

Schen posses a calm and cool personality, and is a man of few words. He is as popular with the other Samurai as Joshua is.[2]

Background[]

Schen was taught in the "shadow school" form of combat. This school's techniques are based around killing, diametrically opposed to the way of the other Samurai. Those from the Shadow School are forbidden from using magic, making Schen ineligible to become a Samurai Master.[2]

He was married in the past, but his wife Marie is deceased. It is said he is seeking revenge against one of the Sorcerer Shoguns for the death of his wife.[1][2] He also searches for his brother, who was seduced by black magic.[2]

History[]

Schen is first seen alongside his fellow Samurai leading a revolt against Kall-Su's reign, and helping them attack a storehouse to recover food for the peasant's families.[3] When Yngwei von Mattström shows up to stop them, he watches the duel between Yngwei and Kai Harn.[4] After Tia Noto Yoko interrupts the duel, he retreats with his fellow samurai, and is later seen celebrating their recovery of the food in the Samurai's castle.[5]

Schen is later seen in the castle mess hall, as part of the group celebrating Lucien Renlen's birthday. He would be among those present when Jorg Fishes returns to the Samurai Residence, and informs the Samurai of the Sorcerer Shoguns impending attack, before passing away. During the battle Schen would protect Kai Harn from a sneak attack by Ba Thory, and engage the Shogun in battle. While Schen seems to prevail in battle against Ba Thory, Ba Thory would heal himself with his recycling worms, and then kill Schen using his carnivorous leeches.[6] After the battle between the Shoguns' forces, and the Samurai, Schen would be brought back to life by Dark Schneider, who uses Ba Thory's recycling worms to heal, and resurrect, the fallen Samurai. He would be seen rejoicing with the rest of his fellow Samurai over their resurrection.[7]

Following the destruction of their old Castle, the Samurai would move into a new base along with the leaders of the resistance groups. Schen would attend a meeting with the leaders of the resistance forces, who had noticed that the Sorcerer Shoguns were no longer on the front lines. The next day Schen and the other Samurai would interrogate an orc prisoner they had captured a few days before, who confesses that the sorcerer Shoguns had left on airships to the lost Elven city of King Crimson Glory to find Sheila Metallicana, and undo the final seal on Anthrasax.[8]

Schen and the other samurai would attend a dance from Yoko, celebrating their victory over Kall-su's forces, which led to the capture of the orc. Afterwards, they would head to the basement of the castle, under Prince Mercy's command, to discover that it contained an old Elven Gate. After Dark Schneider determines that the teleporter leads to King Crimson Glory, and is convinced to activate it, Schen and many of the other Samurai would use it to travel to King Crimson Glory.[9]

Upon arriving at the city the Samurai would be stunned at its majesty. One of the Sorcerer Shogun's airships would crash nearby, making the Samurai wonder if anyone could've survived the crash, only for D.S. to sense one of the Shogun, and force him out of hiding with a spell, leading to Bol Gil Bol revealing himself.[9]

The Samurai would be quickly immobilized by Bol's Show Bind attack, leaving D.S. to fight the Shogun alone. After D.S. defeats Bol, the group would continue on their way to Sheila's location, with a now pacified Bol following them. Before they can get far the group is confronted by Kall-Su over a bridge. Kall attempts to kill the group with one of his spells, but D.S. protects them, though the group falls to the ground below as the bridge is destroyed. The group finds D.S., seemingly killed by Kall's attack. When Vai questions if D.S. would really protect them, Bol defends D.S., pointing out how he did protect them from Kall's attack, and that he was fighting blind this whole time, earning respect from the Samurai. The group is shocked when D.S. suddenly awakens, and flies off to continue his fight with Kall.[10]

As the Samurai continue making their way to Sheila's location, they would stop when Yoko comments about sensing D.S.'s death against Kall-Su. The group would be shocked when Angus Yarn speaks for the first time, about this development with D.S., and his body begins to open up revealing Angus to be a robot suit piloted by Abigail. After Abigail explains he is no longer an enemy, he reveals to the group that D.S. is still alive, and that one of the mini-D.S. created when the Shogun airship had fallen on him had latched itself on Yoko's butt. Using a magic hammer he restores D.S. to his true size, resurrecting the wizard. Their celebration over D.S.'s revival would be interrupted by the arrival of some of the Sorcerer Shogun, who the Samurai engage in battle so that D.S. can continue his fight with Kall-Su. As the battle between the two wizards intensifies, the Samurai and Shogun would halt their fight, to observe the wizards duel.[11]

The assembled Samurai and Sorcerer Shogun would react in shock as the battle would lead to Kall-Su killing himself in a moment to clarity, to free himself from Anthrasax's control, the final seal on Anthrasax being broken due to the dark powers released by Kall-Su and Dark Schneider's fight, and the dark god mutating its cells around Kall-Su's body into a horrible monster under its control. As the remaining Divine Kings begin fighting the monster, to protect the injured Dark Schneider from its attacks, the Samurai and Shogun would join forces to fight it in a large battle. After a resurrected Kall-Su breaks free from the monster, the assembled warriors would watch and Dark Schneider and Kall-Su destroy the creature with their combined powers. The Samurai would witness the tearful reunion of D.S. and Arshes Nei, as well as that of Kall-Su and his Sorcerer Shogun, as well as seeing the threat given by by project of Anthrasax above King Crimson Glory.[12]

Abilities and Equipment[]

Schen Karr is a master swordsman of the Samurai Order who practices the swordsmanship style called "Shadow School", an assassination school that forbids the use of magic. It is rumored that his abilities as a swordsman surpass even those of the leader of the Samurai Joshua Berahia. His weapon is the Kuroyasha, a black bladed demon sword that blends into the darkness of the night.[1][2] He is left handed, and uses the enlightened double sword style.[2]

Skills:[]

  • Fudo Meio-Ken: A secret art of the Shadow School that makes the opponent lose sight of his swords.[6]

Name Origin[]

His name could be inspired from either Rudolf Schenker or Michael Schenker (German Guitarist Brothers) Michael used to play with Scorpions, German's famous Hard Rock band and left to play with U.F.O. from England and then working as solo artist while his older brother Rudolf stay with Scorpions to this day.

In terms of character design, Schen is heavily based on Michael in his 80s circa, which his prominent features consisted of long bright hair with slicked back mullets.
