Lich is one of the four Eddies, master of the undead,[1] and the most powerful member of Abigail's undead legion. He also carries the third of the Three Demonic Treasures, the Satan's Ring.
Appearance[]
Lich's appearance was mostly skeletal, with only a thin layer of flesh connecting his bones. He possessed small, sunken in, red eyes, and wore a dark cloak over his body.
Personality[]
Lich possessed an arrogant, and vengeful personality. He believed himself to be superior to most others, and that humans were pathetic creatures that existed merely to give him power. He had no issue with wiping out an entire country just to get back to whoever disturbed his rest.
History[]
Past[]
Lich was originally a high priest, and wizard, in an old kingdom before using forgotten rituals of the occult to make himself into an Eddie. Four powerful Necromancers turned themselves into Eddies with a "Become Undead" spell. Dark Schneider, who was accompanied by Kall-Su and Abigail at the time, inadvertently freed Eddie from his imprisonment with a Megadeth spell. He subsequently destroyed the country of De Purple in revenge by turning it into a desert with his black cloud of gas.[1]
Present[]
After the defeat of the previous two chiefs of the Undead Legion (Lynch and Vivian), Abigail decided to unleash Lich, even though it was a risky gamble as, in his own words, he couldn't control Lich. Abigail promises to let Lich keep the Satan's Ring in exchange for doing his bidding, but Lich planed to betray Abigail, and was concocting a plan to get power greater then even Anthrasax.[2] The undead shows up at Metallicana, unleashing a poisonous cloud of gas with his Suicidal Tendencies spell.[3]
He later breaks through Dark Schneider's firewall spell, Guns N Ro', which in the words of Gara is not normal for an undead. After Dark Schneider's Vengeance spell did nothing, Lich used his magic nullifying attack, Stryper. When Dark Schneider taunted him (as the maneuver nullifies Eddie's own magic), the undead used Satan's Ring to summon a black hole.[4] This effect was later revealed as having something to do with another of the two legendary Demonic Artifacts: the Devil's Mace, which drains the citizens of Metallicana of their energy and supplies the Satan's Ring with power.[5]
After he successfully seals Dark Schneider and Arshes Nei in the nether realm, Gara attacks the undead to no avail, as his intangibility prevents him from being harmed by the Shin Majin-Ken technique. Lich strikes back with Skid Row and knocks Gara back.[6]
When Gara summons the true power of the Murasame, a maneuver that slowly consumes the life energy of its user, Lich uses Skid Row again, but Gara responds with the full power of his sword, but Eddie is still not significantly damaged.[7]
Gara strikes him again with the Keiun Kininken attack, which overwhelms Lich and causes significant damage to the area. However, Lich uses the Satan's ring to revive himself. At the same time, Nue and Efreet, the elementals inhabiting the Fire Sword and the Raijin-Ken accompany Dark Schneider and Arshes Nei out of their imprisonment. Dark Schneider reveals that Lich opening the Giran Ira for more power when Gara attacked him, allowed their escape. Dark Schneider then attacks the undead with Efreet as the Fire Sword, finally killing the undead creature.[8]
Abilities[]
Eddie possesses permanent intangibility, making him immune to normal weapons and magic[1], to harm him, it is necessary to attack him in both material and spiritual plane at the same time.[6] In addition, he can absorb souls into his body which is preserved by an aura of extreme cold.[1] Using Satan's Ring, he can call forth black holes, a technique called Giran Ira.[5] The ring can also revive him.[8]
Spells and Techniques[]
- Become Undead: Lich used this spell to make himself undead.
- Suicidal Tendencies: Lich uses this attack to summon a black cloud of gas that decays anything it touches. This was the attack he used to destroy Deep Purple in only a couple of hours.
- Stryper: Lich uses something that appears to be a vortex to nullify the magic of his enemies. The cost of this is that his own innate magic is also deactivated (this does not apply to Satan's Ring however).
- Gillian Ian: Lich uses Satan's ring to call forth a black hole that sucks enemies into another dimension.
- Unnamed ability: Lich uses this ability to absorb people's souls simply by looking at them.[1]
- Skid Row: A spell that knocks people back, delivering tremendous kinetic energy.
Equipment[]
- Satan's Ring. This allows him to draw power from another of the Demonic Artifacts, the Devil's Mace, create black holes, and regenerate himself to a degree.
